I discovered hand stamping a few years ago and fell in love with it. There are so many possibilities with hand stamping. I offer many hand stamped items on my site. From custom work to standard phrases. So today I wanted to share a few things about my process. I do not purchase pre-cut metal for my stamping. I purchase metal sheets and cut the base from it and sand the edges smooth. I have tried the pre-cut metal and I do not like them. They do not stamp correctly.
As you can see from this photo I do infact cut all my stamp bases. Once cut they must be filed smooth on the edges to prevent sharp edges. Also after the blanks are stamped I punch the hole on the top of the pendant in order to make it were it can be attached to a jump ring. This process takes more time but it insures I am providing the best metal for my hand stamped products.
Each and ever hand stamped item I make is truly handmade. I make the base pendant, I stamp the base, I add the dark to the stamped letters and I punch the jump ring hole. As you can see from the pictures once stamped you can not go back. One little missed letter makes the piece unusable. Two out of the four pendants above are missing the N in the word around. These must be redone.
In the photos above the two that were incorrect have been redone. So you can see that I put a lot of care and time in each stamping I do. I hope you liked this peek into my hand stamping process.
